Jammu: The Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan on Monday reviewed security situation and operational preparedness across the Jammu region during his day-long visit here.

Official sources said that the CDS reviewed the security situation in the Jammu region during a high level meeting at the White Knight Corps (16 Corps) based here at Nagrota.

He was briefed about the operational readiness and security scenario in the region by the top Army Commanders in the backdrop of back to back terrorist attack last week.

His visit comes a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a meeting in the national capital and took a review on prevailing situation in the Jammu and Kashmir.

The Jammu region notably witnessed four terrorists attacks in Kathua, Doda and in the Reasi districts starting June 9.

The terrorists on June 9 fired on a pilgrims bus and it plunged into a gorge leaving 10 dead and 33 injured.

Later, two Pakistani terrorists were killed during a gunfight with security forces in border Hiranagar belt of Kathua district. A CRPF jawan also lost his life during one of the attacks.
