On the evening of Wednesday, September 13, the first coordination committee meeting of the joint Opposition bloc, I.N.D.I.A., concluded at the residence of NCP Chief, Sharad Pawar. The key topics which were touched upon during the meeting were those of caste-census, and seat-sharing among the allies.

Post the meeting, a joint statement was released by the I.N.D.I. alliance. Congress GS (Organization), KC Venugopal, said that it was decided during the course of the meeting, that a joint opposition rally will be held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, in the first week of October. He added that the alliance has started the process of seat-allocation, and member parties will arrive at decisions, after holding the due discussions, as soon as possible.

Venugopal further stated, ‘In the first rally, the issues of inflation, unemployment, and corruption of the BJP will be raised. We have also decided that none of the leaders from the INDIA Group will participate in the shows hosted by certain media groups’ anchors.’

The first coordination committee meeting was attended by the leaders of 12 member parties, and the coordination committee, comprising 14 members, was announced at the alliance’s third meeting in Mumbai. TMC’s leader, Abhishek Banerjee, was unable to attend Wednesday’s meeting because of summons from the ED, as told by KC Venugopal.
