New Delhi: BJP National President J P Nadda and three other candidates of the party on Tuesday elected ‘unopposed’ to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat.

The three other candidates elected unopposed to the upper house were diamond baron Govindbhai Dholakia, BJP leaders Jasvantsinh Parmar and Mayank Nayak.

There were four vacant Rajya Sabha seats in the state and all the ruling BJP MPs were elected from Gujarat.

Meanwhile, former AICC President Sonia Gandhi was elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan.

Sonia Gandhi filed her nomination in Jaipur on February 14 after she announced that she would not contest for the upcoming Lok Sabha poll due to health concerns.

The senior Congress leader has represented Rae Bareli in Lok Sabha since 2004 and served five terms as a Member of Parliament.

In Rajasthan, the two BJP leaders Chunnilal Gadasia and Madan Rathore were also elected unopposed in the state.

There are 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Rajasthan. After the results, Congress has six members and the BJP four.
