Hyderabad: Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, K T Rama Rao (KTR), emphasised the importance of careful planning and sustained effort for the growth of cities, highlighting the significant transformation of Hyderabad under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).

Speaking at the inauguration of the two-day 3rd Edition of the Times Mega Property Expo held at Hitex, Madhapur, KTR commended the city’s development, attributing it to strategic infrastructure investments made by the government. He reflected on the city’s history of power shortages and water supply issues, which have since been resolved.

KTR noted that Hyderabad now boasts an uninterrupted 24-hour electricity supply and a reliable water source, thanks to initiatives that bring water from distant rivers. He expressed confidence that even with Hyderabad’s growing population, the city’s water needs would be secured until 2050, with special allocations made for drinking water.

The minister highlighted the city’s appeal to celebrities and international real estate firms, who have praised its development and growth. He pointed out that 35 projects have already been completed under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), underscoring the city’s rapid expansion.

KTR emphasised the need for continuous infrastructure development to meet the demands of a burgeoning Hyderabad. He outlined plans for the expansion of the city’s public transport system, including the Airport Metro and a proposed 415-kilometre Metro network around the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

Maintaining law and order, KTR noted, is crucial for attracting investments, and Telangana has maintained peace and stability since its formation. He highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe environment for residents and investors.

Acknowledging the significance of the real estate sector, KTR urged builders to adhere to global standards and innovative designs. He stressed the importance of constructing environmentally friendly buildings and keeping housing prices affordable in Hyderabad, which currently has the second-lowest house prices in the country.

KTR encouraged real estate firms to explore opportunities in various areas of the city and beyond.

He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to further enhancing Hyderabad’s development under Chief Minister KCR’s leadership and blessings of the people and taking the city’s prosperity further
