Maha Election: Over 260 Sr citizens cast votes from home in Malabar Hill

Mumbai: A total of 278 voters, including 268 senior citizens and 10 disabled voters, in Malbar Hill Assembly Constituency in Mumbai performed their duty by casting their votes from home, the election decision officer said in a media statement on Friday.

Special voting arrangements have been provided for senior citizens over the age of 85 and voters with disabilities in the Malabar Hill Assembly Constituency.

Senior citizens and disabled voters above 85 years of age who cannot be present at the polling station and who have filled out the form ’12 D’ have been provided the facility of voting by home postal ballot through the postal polling team.

These senior citizens and disabled voters have given an important message to other voters by voting by home mail that voters should exercise their right to vote in elections for the strengthening of democracy.

A total of 286 senior citizen voters above 85 years of age in the Malabar Hill Assembly Constituency of Mumbai City District, out of which 268 voters and 10 out of 11 disabled voters had filled out and submitted Form ’12D’ to the Election Decision Officer of the Malabar Hill Assembly Constituency. Home postal voting of a total of 278 such voters has been conducted.

Polling for the Vidhan Sabha general election will be held on November 20, 2024, from 7 am to 6 pm.

In ten constituencies of Mumbai city district, 2137 senior citizen voters above 85 years of age and 219 disabled voters have qualified for postal voting. Home postal voting will be held till November 16, 2024, they said.

The senior citizens and disabled voters expressed their satisfaction for the facility of voting from home and thanked the election team, they added.
