Prez, VP greet people of Goa on Statehood Day

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday extended their warm wishes to the people of Goa on their Statehood Day.

“On Goa’s statehood day, my greetings to the people of the beautiful state! Goa is known for its natural beauty, exquisite beaches, warm people and the vibrant Goan culture,” the President wrote in a tweet.

She said the State has made rapid strides in various fields.

“May Goa continue to prosper and become a model for sustainable development in the years to come,” said Murmu.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, the VP said, “Heartiest greetings on the Statehood day of Goa!

The serene state is blessed with captivating coastal beauty, appealing architecture, and enterprising people.”

” May the state continue to set new benchmarks of development and progress in years to come,” Dhankhar said.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also took to Twitter and wrote, “Best wishes to all Goans on Goa’s Statehood Day. Goa is a land of scenic natural beauty and warm hearted people.”

“On this historic day in 1987, under the leadership of then PM, Shri Rajiv Gandhi, Goa became a state of the Republic of India. Wishing you a bright future ahead,” he added.
