Imphal: Manipur Police and security forces apprehended 12 people who were allegedly members of various militant outfits in separate incidents in the last 24 hours.
Police said three active cadres of Kangleipak Communist Party-People’s War Group KCP (PWG) were nabbed from Keirao Wangkhem and arms were recovered from them.
Four cadres of the outfit were also nabbed from Mantripukhri Imphal East district. Police said they were involved in planting hand grenades at various locations. Two pistols were recovered from them.
In another operation, the state police arrested a man belonging to the proscribed PLA from Sawombung Kabui Khunjao in Imphal East along with a 9 mm pistol.
Security forces arrested two active cadres of KCP (Apunba) from an abandoned hut at Wangjing Awang Leikai under Thoubal-PS, Thoubal District.
Police said search operations were conducted and arms and ammunitions were recovered from Phonsenphai Gap near Kwakta Ward No. 8 of Bishnupur district and Heibonglok Hill under Imphal West district.
