Tricolour at tourist spots: G Kishan Reddy

Shimla: Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy has announced that the national flag will be installed at tourist places.

He has urged states and stakeholders to visit all hotels and tourist places. He emphasized on the importance of youth tourism clubs and said that these clubs can become a game changer for the sector.

His announcement on the Tricolour came at the end of a three-day National Conference of State Tourism Ministers that concluded in Dharamsala on Tuesday.

Reddy said: “India is projected to receive $50 billion GDP contribution from tourism, $30 billion in foreign exchange earnings and 15 million foreign arrivals by 2024.”

“Tourism is expected to achieve a GDP contribution of USD 250 billion, 137 million jobs in the tourism sector, USD 56 billion in foreign exchange earnings and 25 million foreign arrivals by 2030.”

The three-day National Conference of State Tourism Ministers at Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh was organised by the Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy. Tourism ministers from 12 states including Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Goa, Haryana, Mizoram, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh participated in the conference.

During the concluding remarks, G. Kishan Reddy thanked all the State Representatives and Region Representatives for their valuable suggestions.

Reddy urged that all the states share and adopt best practices to promote the tourism sector. In order to improve and promote tourism destinations, the states should organise such conferences at the state level with the district officers and stakeholders of various departments.
