PFI leader arrested

Kollam (Kerala): The General Secretary of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) in Kerala, Abdul Sattar, was taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday.

Sattar, who had called a strike in Kerala on September 23, was arrested from Karunya Centre in Karunagappally, shortly after he returned to Kollam district. The PFI zonal office is located at Karunagappally.

After the PFI was banned, a large number of CRPF personnel were deployed in Aluva in Ernakulam district. The RSS office in Aluva was given special security.
