Mandya (Karnataka): A school headmaster in Mandya has been arrested by Mandya police for allegedly sexually assaulting and misbehaving with female students.

The accused, Chinmayanada Murthy, has been booked under the POCSO Act and IPC sections. The 47-year-old was arrested based on a complaint by the hostel warden.

The warden alleged that Murthy used to summon the inmates of hostel to his office and inappropriately touch them, and also showed them obscene and pornographic videos on his mobile phone.

The victims also complained that Murthy used to threaten them to fail them in exams if they tried to lodge a complaint or refused to fall prey to his carnal instincts.

Murthy’s offense came to light after a girl, who was summoned by Murthy to his office on Wednesday, cried for help after he tried to touch her inappropriately and allegedly sexually abused her.

Enraged over Murthy’s misconduct, the female inmates of the hostel thrashed him using sticks, videos of which have gone viral on social media.

In one of the videos, the female inmates are heard asking Murthy, “Why are you doing this to girls. You are a headmaster, sir.”

On Thursday, Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) Javaregowda visited the premises and promised the enraged villagers that the headmaster will be suspended.
