Ratnagiri police issues ban notice to former Mp Raju Shetty

Kolhapur: On the backdrop of ongoing agitation in Barsu of Rajapur tehsil in Ratnagiri district for petrochemical refinery project, Ratnagiri district police on Tuesday baned Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) national president and former Mp Raju Shetty to enter in Ratnagiri district till May 31 with giving warning him not to make any statement on Barsu or on social media.

Mr Shetty has openly supported to Barsu peoples in their ongoing agitation to protest against refinery project and had also called ‘Chalo Ratnagiri’ after lathi charge with using tear gas there. His supporters has already participated in the agitation and Mr Shetty has also planned to visit Barsu.

On this ground, a Ratnagiri police officials team arrived here early this morning at his resident in Shirol tehsil of this district on behalf of Ratnagiri district collector and district superintendent of police and issued a notice to Mr. Shetty to ban from entered in Ratnagiri to visit Barsu and also restricted to release any video or any post supporting Barsu agitation, on social media from today till May 31.

Meanwhile, Mr. Shetty with retreating his support to Barsu peoples in their agitation against refinery project, said that he was not giving a hoot to such notice and would stand behind the Barsu peoples with supporting the agitation firmly.
