Hyderabad: Special Operation Team (SOT) of Cyberabad have busted three inter-state organized online IPL cricket betting rackets and arrested seven individuals.

Police have seized nearly Rs 1.84 Crore in cash and bank accounts and also 36 mobile phones, three laptops, one Tab, and one Jio router from their possession.

Acting on credible information, the SOT conducted raids in Bandlaguda, Narsingi, and Shamshabad under Rajendranagar Zone and arrested the seven individuals while they were accepting organized online IPL cricket bets, Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Stephen Ravindra told media here on Wednesday.

Ravindra said that cricket betting has been banned under the Online Gaming Act since 2017, and the online cricket betting was being conducted under the guise of two real estate traders.

The main bookie, who is reportedly staying in Bangalore, is currently absconding, and the police are conducting a search to apprehend him.

“We found that 15 crore transactions were carried out within two months,” the Police Commissioner said.

The police department appreciated the good work done by SOT and assured suitable rewards for them.
