Manipur Governor, CM take part in yoga day observation

Imphal: Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey and Chief Minister N Biren Singh led the state in celebrating The International Day of Yoga on Friday.

Uikey took part in yoga asanas with officers, staff and security personnel at Raj Bhavan, and urged the people of Manipur to practise the discipline daily to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

“As envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the importance of yoga in our daily life is being celebrated throughout the country and the world today. The benefit of yoga to our health is worth mentioning and therefore all the people should understand the idea of yoga and its practices to our health and wellbeing,” she said.

The Governor said yoga promotes not only physical health but helps sustain good mental health too. She wished all the officers, staff, security personnel and officials from the Ayush Department who took part in the yoga session.

CM N Biren, ministers, MPs, MLAs and officials took part in the observation at Khuman Lampak indoor stadium.

N Biren said Iin a message: ”Yoga is an ancient physical, mental, and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ means to join or to unite, symbolising the union of body and consciousness.

“The International Day of Yoga aims to increase the visibility and acceptance of Yoga across the world and encourages millions of people to practice it in their daily lives. It underscores yoga’s potential to improve health and balance lifestyle amid the stress of modern life,” he added
