PM Modi dedicates Vadakara and Mahe redeveloped railway stations to the people

Kozhikode: Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the redeveloped Vadakara and Mahe railway stations to the people under Palakkad Division of Southern Railway along with 101 others in the country through virtual mode under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, on Thursday.

Union Minister of State George Kurian unveiled the plaque as part of the inauguration at the redeveloped Vadakara railway station, while Mahe Lt Governor K Kailasanathan unveiled the plaque at Mahe railway station.

At Vadakara, the redevelopment was carried out for Rs 29.47 crore and the upgraded station now features a modernised booking office, improved AC and Non-AC waiting hall, a new escalator, tactile flooring, resurfaced platforms and dedicated green zones with vertical gardens.

Vadakara now stands as a model railway station, combining passenger convenience with regional identity by surfacing local mural art and aesthetic enhancements on walls to reflect the cultural heritage of Kerala.

MP’s Shafi Parambil, P T Usha, MLA K K Rema and Palakkad Divisional Railway Manager Arun Kumar Chaturvedi graced the function at Vadakara.

At Mahe railway station, Rs 12.61 crore was invested to transform the station into a more accessible and passenger -friendly facility, including new waiting rooms, a toilet block,extended platforms, stainless steel name board, vertical gardens and Divyangjan-friendly features.

The station’s coastal and colonial character has been preserved while introducing modern amenities and infrastructure. MLA Ramesh Parambath, representatives of the local governing bodies,top railway officials attend the event at Mahe
