Petropole (Indo-Bangla border): Movement of goods vehicles carrying essentials to Bangladesh came to a halt on Monday after thousands of monks, Sanatani outfit members, and BJP activists led by the Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari blocked goods vehicles for 24 hours at the international border at Petropole demanding the unconditional release of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh.

Adhikari also warned that if Das was not released, then they would put up an economic blockade at Petrapole for five days soon and warned of a massive agitation early next year.

He said they would go close to zero points to voice their resentment against torture of the minority communities, attack on Hindus, and vandalization of temples in Bangladesh.

He said they would also release gas balloons depicting the portrait of Chinmoy Krishna Das to press for the early release of the former ISKCON priest.

BJP leader and former MP Arjun Singh also took part in the agitation.

Akhil Bharatiya Santa Samaj, Rastriya Hindu Jagaran Mancha, and many other Hindu outfits carrying Indian flags and saffron flags arrived at the border where the BSF stood firm with weapons at the zero point and lodged protest.

BSF IG, North Bengal Surya Kanta Sharma said additional para-military forces were deployed in the porous border as the people from the other side were trying to enter the Indian border. ” We are professionally assigned to prevent any infiltration from the other side of the border since the violence erupted.

The protestors said the agitation will continue at Petrapole border “until the Bangladesh government takes action to stop attacks on Hindus and temples and release Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das.

President of the Bengal chapter of the Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti Swami Paramatmananda said their agitation would continue at Petrapole border till Bangladesh police take action to stop attacks on Hindus and temples.
