EAM calls on Australian PM in Sydney

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is visiting Sydney, on Saturday called on Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and discussed the bilateral strategic partnership, ahead of the Australian PM’s visit to India next month.

In tweets, the EAM said he conveyed the personal greetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Australian PM.

“Delighted to call on PM @AlboMP of Australia today morning in Kirribilli House in Sydney. Conveyed the personal greetings of PM @narendramodi

“Our discussions reflected the full spirit of our strategic partnership. Apprised

@AlboMP of recent developments in that regard.

“P.S.: Of course, discussed cricket :)”, he posted.

The Australian PM in a tweet on the meeting said:

“It was wonderful to meet with @DrSJaishankar this morning ahead of my trip to India next month.

“We discussed our strategic partnership, economic opportunities and the people-to-people ties that enrich our nations.”

Separately, EAM Jaishankar also addressed the Raisina Sydney Business Breakfast meeting where he stressed that the bilateral FTA which came into force in December last year will turbocharge the relationship.

“Spoke today morning at Raisina @ Sydney Business Breakfast.

“Made the following points:

“-In today’s global landscape, like-minded countries need to work together to derisk economy, rise to challenges of digital world and build relationships that serve as stabilizers for economy.

“India and Australia are on-track. Bilaterally, our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership sets the framework and the ECTA will turbocharge the relationship. Regular contacts are helping.

“Resilient supply chains, flow of skills and talent, stronger connectivity and collaborative climate action will great dividends.

“-A bullish economic scenario today in India and positive investment climate a result of decisions taken during difficult times. Make in India, Invent in India, PLIs, Gati Shakti are all going strong. Economic confidence being seen in our ability to create, collaborate & manufacture.

“-Transformational governance changes underway in India are showing results. Strong digital backbone paving the way for efficient and effective delivery.

“In a changing global scenario, India and Australia are forging a crucial partnership and the contributions of all stakeholders is appreciated.”

The EAM flew to Sydney from Fiji where he attended the 12th World Hindi Conference.
