Pune Metro line 3 receives a special commendation at UNECE PPP and Infrastructure Award

Pune: Shortly after receiving the prestigious Skoch Award 2023 for urban development at the national level, Pune Metro Line III has another feather in its cap. The metro train project, popularly known as Puneri Metro, has now bagged a “Special Commendation Certificate” at the recently concluded Public Private Partnerships forum in Athens, Greece.

The commendation recognizes the achievement of sustainable goals in Access & Equity and Environmental Sustainability & Resilience. This recognition is the culmination of the tireless efforts of Puneri Metro teams especially EHS & ably supported by Civil, Business, and other teams under the stewardship of the finance team. The exercise involved guidance & mentoring by the CEO, Alok Kapoor, Neha Pandit (Director & Business head), Aloke Goel (CFO), and Akshay Sharma (Director, Projects).

The work of Pune Metro Line 3 on the Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar route has been jointly undertaken by Tata Group and PMRDA on the basis of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) and Tata Group has established Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited as a special purpose vehicle (SPV) company for its implementation.

“Getting recognition at a global forum held by prestigious organisations such as UNECE certainly serves as an inspiration for supporting SDG outcome-based projects like Pune Metro Line 3.

The construction of the metro between Hinjewadi and Shivajinagar will provide easy, convenient, and affordable public transport options. It is the policy of the Tata Group not to compromise on quality and safety in all phases of the project. We look forward to a long and strengthened association with Punekars for the development of quality and sustainable infrastructure in the city,” said Alok Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer of Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd.
