Panaji: Congress President Amit Patkar said on Tuesday that “Shakha-trained” Chief Minister Pramod Sawant needs lessons not only in mythology but science and history too.

In a statement, Patkar said the chief minister should know that Ram Rajya existed in Ramayan Period, vaccines were made by scientists and not Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India since 1947.

Reacting sharply to the statements made by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at Mapusa during arrival of Shree Ram Digvijay Rath Yatra recently, Congress President questioned if Chief Minister feels that “Ram Rajya” began only in 2014, what was happening during Ramayan times?

“It is disgusting to hear the Chief Minister’s claim that Covid vaccines were made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has insulted the scientists who invented polio vaccines by stating that it took them 20 years to make those vaccines,” Patkar said.

“Dr Pramod Sawant should know that it involves scientific process to make vaccines. I want to remind him that first Prime Minister of India Pandit Nehru established National Institute of Virology in 1952 which played a important role in Covid testing,” the Congress leader said.

“Jammu and Kashmir was and is an integral part of India since 1947. BJP Government after abolishing Article 370 has degraded the State by enacting the division of the Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories,” he alleged.

“If Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant claims that Ram Rajya has begun in 2014, is he admitting that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure was a failure?” Patkar questioned.
