Up ahead of the anticipatable third wave of coronavirus across the nation Gujarat is now all set to stockpile the Remdesivir injections whose paucity proved to be ill-fated during the second wave. In a recent notification, the Gujarat government anterior to presumptive third wave have released tenders to procure 145000 vials of the Remdesivir injections. Where the new variant omicron has yet again alarmed harrowing situation nationwide, Gujarat has also witnessed a huge burst of 394 cases in the last 24 hours warning the government to get set with the weapons to combat against the unseen foe.

As per the guidelines of the Union health ministry, the health department of the state has armed to the teeth accompanied by the Gujarat Medical Service Corporation Limited publicizing the tender to procure 1.45 lakhs vials 100mgs each. Notably, during the second deadly wave, much of black marketing and duplication of these injections were witnessed as grounds of which many innocents breathed their last.

The last date of accepting tender for Remdesivir injections is believed to be January 3, 2022, succeeded by an online technical bid at 1 pm only after the tender has been submitted physically till noon on January 4.

So far 78 cases of omicron have come up in the state against 5 cases of omicron on December 28 the two of which were reported in Ahmedabad. One of them is overseas travel history while the city of Vadodara, Mehsana, and Porbandar have no travel history with 1-1 cases. 54 out of the total 78 are currently undergoing treatment while 24 have been discharged. So far, no deaths have been reported due to omicron.
