H3N2 influenza cases: 1,000 special fever camps held across TN

Chennai: After detection of H3N2 influenza cases, the Tamil Nadu Government today conducted 1,000 camps across the State.

A total of 200 camps was organised in the Chennai city and State Health Minister Ma.Subramanian inaugurated one of the camps at Saidapet area in the city.

This camp is being conducted by the State Health Department to ensure people get
medical facilities near their homes.

People with fever, cough will be examined and medicines will be provided. It is generally advised to practice self-control measures and avoid gatherings and wearing a face mask as the virus spreads.

Talking to reporters, Mr Subramanian said those with symptoms of cold and cough are requested to isolate themselves like what they did during COVID pandemic to prevent others from getting infected.

Citing the slight increase in COVID cases, which has gone up from two in the recent past to 25 as of yesterday, the Minister said though it was not a matter of concern, stressed the need for wearing face masks and regular handwashing and maintain social distancing.

He also said there has been hike in COVID cases in other parts of the country and appealed to the people to take all safety precautions.
