Kalaburagi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge addressed the media on Saturday, reflecting on the party’s unexpected defeat in the recent Haryana elections.

Kharge emphasised that despite widespread expectations of a Congress victory, the results defied predictions. “The whole country, and even the BJP, were saying that Congress would win. But despite that, we need to understand the factors that led to our loss,” he remarked.

Kharge revealed that the party has initiated an internal review, adding, “We are holding a meeting regarding the incident. Once the report comes, it will be clear what needs to be done and how it happened.”

Addressing internal dynamics, Kharge acknowledged the fluctuating sentiments within the party during electoral highs and lows. “During victory, many may take credit, and in times of loss, there will always be critics,” he observed.

His remarks come amid growing introspection within Congress over its recent setbacks.

The party leadership is expected to convene soon, with the outcome of this internal review likely to influence Congress’s strategy for upcoming elections across the country.
